Employee Selects

Whenever medical care is needed, the injured employee may select any physician or surgeon who is practicing on the island where the injury was incurred to render medical care. If the services of a specialist are indicated, the employee may select any physician or surgeon practicing in the State. (HRS § 386-21)

Change of Provider

In the event an injured employee elects to change attending physicians, the employee shall notify the employer/carrier prior to initiating the change. Changes in attending physicians subsequent to the first change require prior approval by the Director of Labor & Industrial Relations or employer. (WCHR § 12-15-38)
